Mount Gahinga Lodge (also marketed as "The Batwa Culture & Gorilla Lodge," operated by Volcanoes Safaris / Great Lakes Safaris group) is the only genuine lodge found serving Mgahinga Gorilla National Park specifically — not a gap in our research, just a genuinely thin market. Built from local volcanic stone and thatch, it is the base for trekking the Nyakagezi gorilla family, the only habituated group in Mgahinga and notable for containing multiple silverbacks, and for golden monkey trekking, for which Mgahinga is considered Uganda's best location. Developed in partnership with the Batwa, the forest people displaced when the park was gazetted, the lodge runs a Batwa Trail cultural experience with Batwa guides.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs chosen to suggest the kind of setting this property is in. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify exactly where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had stayed there. For pictures of the actual rooms, see the property's own site.
