Angama Mara is built high on the Oloololo Escarpment, on community land above the Mara Triangle rather than inside the reserve itself. Guest rooms are glass-fronted tented suites on raised decks, each with a wide window facing out over the plains several hundred metres below; they are split between two separate camps, each with its own dining and lounge areas. A private road runs down the escarpment into the Mara Triangle, about 25 minutes away. The property has its own airstrip and a working kitchen garden that supplies the kitchens.

What sets it apart

Its escarpment-top position gives an aerial view over the Mara Triangle that valley-floor camps cannot match.

Who it suits

First-time visitors wanting the view; honeymoons; balloon safaris.

What it costs

No rate is published on the property's own site. Third-party reseller range only, not an official published rate: €1,595–€2,540 per person sharing per https://www.go2africa.com/accommodation/angama-mara, as listed September 2026.

A reseller's range tells you the bracket, not the price you would pay. We show it because it is the only public figure that exists, and we label it rather than present it as the property's own.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Oloololo Escarpment above the Mara, Kenya. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, and of the view they actually look out on, see the property's own site.
