lodge unverified — the official pages list three accommodation types (bungalows, the Kipwe Suite, and luxury suites) without counts; multiple independent listings state nine bungalows plus two suites

Camp Kipwe lies in the Aba-Huab valley within the Uibasen-Twyfelfontein Community Conservancy, roughly 15 km from Twyfelfontein and about 15 minutes from Mowani, its sister property under the same operator. Guests stay in round stone bungalows with curved roofs built among granite boulders, each with an open-air bathroom and a veranda facing the valley; the thick stone construction moderates the temperature swings typical of the region. Activities are guided nature walks in the conservancy, drives to the Twyfelfontein engravings, the Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain, and elephant drives along the Aba-Huab riverbed.

What sets it apart

Rooms are solid stone igloo-shaped bungalows rather than tents, built for the temperature extremes of the Damaraland desert.

Who it suits

Self-drive Namibia itineraries; rock art and desert-elephant excursions; travellers wanting solid walls rather than canvas.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around Damaraland, Namibia. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, and of the view they actually look out on, see the property's own site.
