Mushara Lodge is the original property of the family-run Mushara collection, 8 km from Etosha's eastern Von Lindequist Gate. Accommodation is thatched chalets plus a family unit and a triple room, all air-conditioned and en-suite, with mosquito nets, mini-bars, safes and tea and coffee stations. The thatched public building holds a lounge with a fireplace, a bar with a wine cellar, a dining room and a library, and there is a large swimming pool and a curio shop. Guides run morning and afternoon game drives into Etosha; guests can also self-drive. Kitchen produce comes partly from the lodge's own vegetable, herb and fruit garden. Warthog and antelope are regularly seen on the grounds.

What sets it apart
It is an owner-run lodge close enough to the eastern gate for early park entry without being inside the park's rest-camp system.
Who it suits
Self-drive Etosha trips; eastern Etosha access; birding in summer.

About the photographs
The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Etosha country of northern Namibia. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
