Kwessi Dunes is Natural Selection's camp on the NamibRand Nature Reserve, a private reserve of over 200,000 hectares south of Sossusvlei that is also an International Dark Sky Reserve. Chalets are set on an open plain between dunes and mountains, and each has a separate open-sided "stargazer" room for sleeping under the sky. The camp runs on solar power. Activities are nature drives and walks on the reserve, night drives, horse riding, guided quad biking, sleep-outs, stargazing, and excursions to Sossusvlei, Deadvlei and Big Daddy. Wildlife is desert-adapted — oryx, springbok, bat-eared fox, with leopard and cheetah present but rarely seen — so the reserve's appeal is landscape and night sky rather than game density.

What sets it apart
Each chalet has its own detached open-air star room, a fixture rather than an add-on sleep-out.
Who it suits
Dark-sky stargazing; NamibRand landscapes; Sossusvlei day trips.
The essentials
| Country | Namibia |
| Where | NamibRand Nature Reserve, Namib Desert |
| Property type | lodge (desert chalets) |

What it costs
Kwessi Dunes publishes its own rates. Published on the official site: "NAD 10,845 — NAD 20,495 per night", per https://naturalselection.travel/camps/kwessi-dunes/, as listed September 2026.
Rates move by season and are almost always quoted per person per night sharing, so read the property's own page before you budget.
About the photographs
The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Namib, Namibia. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
