Lewa Safari Camp is inside the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, a 65,000-acre private protected area north of Mount Kenya that forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage listing. The camp is the only tourist facility within the conservancy that the conservancy itself owns, so its trading profits go back into Lewa's conservation and community programmes rather than to an outside owner. Accommodation is in large tented bedrooms with verandas and en-suite bathrooms. Game drives and bush walks run within the conservancy, which protects around a tenth of Kenya's rhino population and roughly a fifth of the world's Grevy's zebra. Elewana operates the camp under agreement with the conservancy.
