Olakira is a relocating camp that follows the wildebeest herds. From June to October it stands at Bolongonja in the northern Serengeti, about 45 minutes from Kogatende airstrip; from December to March it moves to Ndutu in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, roughly 20 minutes from Ndutu airstrip. It closes in April, May and November. The tents use a mesh-enclosed rear section that can be opened for sleeping under the stars, with en-suite bathrooms and bucket showers. Activities are twice-daily open-vehicle game drives, bush breakfasts and lunches, and optional balloon flights. The southern siting places guests among the calving herds; the northern siting covers the Mara River crossings.

The mesh star-gazing tent design, and the fact that it is one of the few camps that relocates the full length of the Serengeti between north and south rather than staying in one sector.
