Porini Rhino Camp is Gamewatchers Safaris' camp inside the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia, a 90,000-acre sanctuary with views toward Mount Kenya and the Aberdares. Tents run on solar power and the camp is built from eco-sensitive materials, carrying a Silver eco-rating. Activities are day and night game drives, bush walks with Maasai guides, bush breakfasts and sundowners, and use of photography hides; horse riding and cycling can be arranged, as can a visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary within the conservancy. Ol Pejeta holds all of the Big Five plus black and southern white rhino and the world's last two northern white rhinos. Rates are all-inclusive of meals, most drinks and all listed activities.

What sets it apart

It is the only tented camp in the Porini portfolio placed in a fenced rhino conservancy, and its rate structure bundles drinks and all activities rather than charging them separately.

Who it suits

Rhino viewing; all-inclusive pricing; photography hides.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Laikipia plateau below Mount Kenya. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
