Skukuza is Kruger's administrative headquarters and largest rest camp, established in 1926 and named after James Stevenson-Hamilton, the park's first warden. Set on the south bank of the Sabie River in southern Kruger, it is widely regarded as the best-equipped camp in the park, with facilities well beyond most rest camps, including its own small airport with daily flights.

What sets it apart

The most comprehensively equipped of Kruger's rest camps — the closest thing to a small town inside the park, with a bank, police station, post office and golf course alongside the usual restaurant and shop.

Who it suits

Self-drive visitors who want Kruger's fullest range of facilities and don't mind its size and popularity.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs chosen to suggest the kind of setting this property is in. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify exactly where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had stayed there. For pictures of the actual rooms, see the property's own site.
