Camp Kalahari stands on Brown Hyena Island, an acacia and palm island on the Makgadikgadi adjoining the national park, and is the least expensive of the three camps its operator runs on this 400,000-hectare concession. Accommodation is in Meru-style canvas tents with four-poster beds and en-suite bathrooms, including family units. Guests do game drives, walks with Bushman guides, visits to habituated meerkats, quad biking on the pans, horse safaris, night drives and helicopter flights; the zebra and wildebeest migration is present from roughly January to April, and flamingos may appear in March and April.
