San Camp is a seasonal white-canvas camp on the edge of Ntwetwe Pan, open only in the dry months from 1 April to 15 October, when the pan surface is hard and empty. Seven tents stand in a line among desert palms with no electricity in the tents, though charging is available centrally; the camp is solar-powered and deliberately minimal. Activities are walks with Zu/'hoasi Bushman guides, habituated meerkats, game drives, quad biking across the pans, horse safaris, night drives and helicopter flights, plus archaeological and fossil sites nearby. Brown hyena are among the species the area is known for. Operated by Natural Selection, which also runs Jack's Camp and Camp Kalahari.

What sets it apart

A dry-season-only camp with no power in the tents, sited for the bare salt-pan horizon rather than for game drives.

Who it suits

What it costs

San Camp publishes its own rates. Published on the official site: "US$1,995–US$2,595 per night", per https://naturalselection.travel/camps/san-camp-botswana/, as listed September 2026.

Rates move by season and are almost always quoted per person per night sharing, so read the property's own page before you budget.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Makgadikgadi and Nxai pans, Botswana. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
