Kifaru House is a five-cottage lodge inside the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, north of Mount Kenya. The conservancy covers 65,000 acres of forest, grassland and acacia woodland and holds more than 70 mammal species, including about ten per cent of Kenya's rhino and around twenty per cent of the world's Grevy's zebra. Cottages are thatched, with four-poster beds and en-suite bathrooms. The main building has a library, a bar and a dining room with log fires, a terrace overlooking a waterhole and an infinity pool facing the plains. Guests game-drive within the conservancy. The house is small enough to be taken on an exclusive-use basis by one party.
What sets it apart
At five cottages it is the smallest of the Elewana properties on Lewa and is built as a house rather than a camp, which makes sole-use bookings practical.
