Kuro is a small tented camp in a grove of riverside bush close to the Tarangire River, near Kuro airstrip in the middle of the park. It is deliberately simple: canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms, no pool and little in the way of hotel-style facilities. Game drives carry a maximum of six guests per vehicle; night drives are available on request and guided walking safaris are a stated speciality. Birdlife is a strong draw, with around 550 species recorded in the area. Dry-season game viewing along the Tarangire River, roughly June to October, concentrates very large numbers of elephant. The camp runs seasonally rather than year-round.

What sets it apart

Its small size and unfussy specification put it at the opposite end of the scale from Tarangire's large lodges, while sitting centrally on the river.

Who it suits

What it costs

No rate is published on the property's own site. Third-party reseller range only, not an official published rate: "June 15-30 & October: US$1,210 per person/night; June 1-14 & November-March: US$760" per https://www.chaloafrica.com/accommodation/kuro-tarangire-tanzania/, as listed September 2026.

A reseller's range tells you the bracket, not the price you would pay. We show it because it is the only public figure that exists, and we label it rather than present it as the property's own.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Tarangire country of northern Tanzania. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
