Onguma Tented Camp is one of several camps on the 35,970-hectare Onguma reserve, which shares its western boundary with Etosha National Park. Seven tents are set on decks in an arc facing a floodlit waterhole that is also visible from the dining area. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, a bath, and a private deck; some have wood-fired hot tubs. Guests take game drives on the private reserve, where night drives and guided walks are permitted, and day excursions into Etosha through the Von Lindequist Gate. The camp does not accept children under 12. There is a swimming pool and a photographic hide elsewhere on the reserve.

What sets it apart
It is the adults-only, small-tent option on a reserve whose other camps are larger and family-oriented.
Who it suits
Couples; waterhole game viewing; combining private-reserve night drives with Etosha day drives.

About the photographs
The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Etosha country of northern Namibia. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
