Royal Mara Safari Lodge is in the Mara North Conservancy at a river position it calls Hippo Bend Lagoon, about ten minutes from the Mara North airstrip. Rooms are set on raised mahogany decks over the water. The lodge is within reach of Leopard Gorge, a broken rocky area in Mara North long used by leopard and hyena and familiar from wildlife filming, and of the migration crossing points on the Mara River to the south. Activities listed are morning, afternoon and night game drives, balloon flights, bush dining and visits to Maasai communities. Booking and administration are handled from a Nairobi office on Mombasa Road.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Greater Maasai Mara, Kenya. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
