Serengeti Pioneer Camp sits on a hillside in the south-central Serengeti looking out over the Moru Kopjes and Lake Magadi, with Seronera the nearest airstrip. The twelve tents are fitted out in the style of a 1930s mobile safari, each with a flushing toilet, vanity basin and shower. Breakfast and dinner are served in a dining tent and lunch is taken either in camp or out on drives. There is an elevated viewing lounge with spotting scopes and a swimming pool. The Moru Kopjes area holds Maasai rock paintings and a gong rock, and is one of the more reliable parts of the park for black rhino. The migration usually passes through between roughly December and April.
