Shinde stands on a palm island on the edge of Shinde Lagoon in a private concession in the northern Delta, and was rebuilt in 2020 with a treehouse-style main area overlooking the permanent lagoon. Seven standard tents and a two-bedroom family tent are spread along the island. Because the concession is private, night drives with spotlights and armed walking safaris are permitted alongside day drives; motorboat and mokoro outings run on the lagoon and channels, and fishing is offered March to December with equipment supplied. Game-drive vehicles carry a maximum of six guests with individual camera mounts. Operated by Ker & Downey Botswana.

What sets it apart
Six-guest vehicles with fitted camera mounts, unusual in the Delta, paired with a permanent-lagoon island setting.
Who it suits
Photographers; mixed land-and-water days; night drives and walking.

About the photographs
The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Okavango Delta, Botswana. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
