Wolwedans Dune Camp

tented camp `unverified` — the operator says 8 rooms (6 tented rooms plus a two-room family suite) for a maximum of 16 guests, plus 2 guide tents; namibweb says 12 beds and a maximum of 12 guests. The sources disagree on capacity.

Dune Camp is the original Wolwedans camp, pitched on the edge of a dune roughly 250 metres high in the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Tents stand on wooden platforms with canvas sides that roll up; rooms have indoor and outdoor bathrooms but no baths, no air-conditioning and no hair dryers, and each has a private deck with a daybed that converts into a star bed. The main area has a lounge, the Silo Bar, dining spaces and a fire pit, and water is cooled in the camp's water-filled silos. Activities include nature drives, horse riding, stargazing and desert walks. A two-night minimum applies and children from age seven are accepted.

What sets it apart

It is the oldest Wolwedans camp and the most stripped-back, pitched directly on a dune crest with canvas walls that open to the desert.

Who it suits

Simple tented desert camping with service; dune-top sunsets; star beds.

What it costs

Wolwedans Dune Camp publishes its own rates. Published on the official site: "From NAD 14,900 per person per night (plus sustainability levy)", per https://www.wolwedans.com/dune-camp/, as listed September 2026.

Rates move by season and are almost always quoted per person per night sharing, so read the property's own page before you budget.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Namib, Namibia. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
