Xugana Island Lodge sits on a private island on Xugana Lagoon, one of the larger permanent lagoons in the northern Delta. Ten tents, one of which is wheelchair-accessible and two of which interlink for families, plus a family tent, take a maximum of 22 guests. All activities are water-based and run year-round: motorboat safaris through the channels and lagoons, mokoro excursions, guided walks on nearby islands, and seasonal catch-and-release bream fishing. The operator cites more than 400 bird species in the area. Helicopter flights are available at a surcharge. Guests generally take two activities a day, arranged on arrival. Operated by Desert & Delta Safaris.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Okavango Delta, Botswana. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
