Chitabe sits on a tree island in a 22,000-hectare private concession that borders Moremi Game Reserve in the south-eastern Delta. Eight raised Meru-style tents, each about 113 square metres, connect by boardwalk to a central area with a pool and library. The concession's mix of floodplain, palm island and mopane woodland supports morning and afternoon drives in open vehicles, night drives (permitted on the concession but not in the adjoining reserve), seasonal guided walks and, when water levels allow, mokoro and motorboat outings. The area is an Important Bird Area and is particularly associated with African wild dog. Operated by Wilderness, with published rates.

About the photographs

The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Okavango Delta, Botswana. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
