Karen Blixen Camp stands on the bank of the Mara River in the Mara North Conservancy, in the north-western part of the Maasai Mara ecosystem, facing the Oloololo Escarpment. It has 22 canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms, twin basins, flush toilets and outdoor showers, and solar-heated water. Hippo are resident in the river below the camp. Activities listed by the camp are game drives including night drives, guided walks, balloon flights and birding. Unusually for a Mara conservancy camp it also takes conference groups of up to 30 people indoors, and hosts weddings and events. The conservancy covers more than 30,000 hectares leased from Maasai landowners.
