Saruni Mara sits in a wooded valley in the Mara North Conservancy, which its operator gives as 69,000 acres. Accommodation is in five cottages plus a family villa and a separate exclusive-use private villa, rather than tents, which is unusual for the conservancy. The lodge has a spa it calls the Maasai Wellbeing Space. Activities include day and night game drives, guided bush walks, Maasai-guided picnics, balloon flights over the migration, birding and visits to a rhino sanctuary. A family programme is run under the name Warriors Academy. The lodge is now part of Saruni Basecamp, formed from the Saruni and Basecamp Explorer portfolios; the former saruni.com domain redirects to sarunibasecamp.com.

What sets it apart
It is the only built cottage lodge rather than a tented camp among the small properties of Mara North Conservancy.
Who it suits
Solid-walled rooms; families; spa and low-key stays.

What it costs
Saruni Mara publishes its own rates. Published on the official site: "Rates from US$500", per https://sarunibasecamp.com/our-properties/saruni-mara/, as listed September 2026.
Rates move by season and are almost always quoted per person per night sharing, so read the property's own page before you budget.
About the photographs
The pictures on this page are stock photographs of African bush and desert country, chosen to suggest the kind of landscape you find around the Greater Maasai Mara, Kenya. They are not photographs of this property, and we cannot verify where any of them was taken — a stock library records the photographer, not the place. We use them rather than borrow the property's own marketing images, which would imply we had been there. For pictures of the rooms, see the property's own site.
