Sossus Dune Lodge is run by the state operator Namibia Wildlife Resorts and is the only lodge built inside the Namib-Naukluft National Park, near the Sesriem gate. Twenty-five chalets in two wings are framed in timber with canvas sides, thatched roofs and large glass fronts; roughly half look towards the dunes and the rest towards the mountains and Sesriem Canyon. Being inside the park gate is the practical point: guests can reach Sossusvlei, Deadvlei and Dune 45 before sunrise and stay after sunset, when day visitors staying outside the gate cannot.
What sets it apart
It is the only lodge inside the park boundary, so guests get access to the dune fields outside the public gate hours.
