Ubuntu is Asilia's simpler mobile camp, run at a lower specification than its permanent lodges. From roughly June to mid-November it stands in the Lamai Wedge in the northern Serengeti, positioned for Mara River crossings and walking; from mid-December to mid-March it moves south to Kusini for the calving season. The ten canvas tents have mesh side panels, en-suite bathrooms with traditional bucket showers and private porches. Guests take twice-daily game drives in open 4x4s, with walking safaris offered at the northern site only for a supplement and a minimum age of 12. Balloon flights and cultural visits are arranged at extra cost.
What sets it apart
It is the deliberately pared-back option in Asilia's Serengeti portfolio — bucket showers and no pool — at a materially lower rate than its sister camps in the same locations.
